We bought this 20 hectare finca in 2010 and in the same year we planted 6.5 hectares with
teak. The rest is made up of smaller patches of woodland and the river bank vegetation.

The farm is developed by roadways and is accessible from two sides. It can be reached in
about 30 minutes from the city of Upala.

In recent years, the company has increasingly focused on the cultivation and marketing of teak
plantations. The reasons for this focus were

the special properties of this wood
the great demand for teak
the high profitability of teak farms

The ideal time for harvesting teak trees is around 20 years of age, since the size of the wood
only increases slowly after that. The logs can either be loaded into containers on the farm for
export or sawed on site into squared timber for domestic or foreign markets.

profitability

When calculating the profitability of a teak plantation, we assume 280-350 teak trees per
hectare that can be felled when they are 20 years old. With an average diameter of 30 cm and a
usable length of 10-12 meters, these trees produce around 200-250 m3 of wood, one m2 of teak
has a retail value of around US$  --(Phone number)--

Our average selling price for 5000m2 of ten year old teak including maintenance is US$69,000.
The further maintenance work can be covered by the proceeds of the thinning. This means: an
investment of US$ 69,000 is compared to earnings of US$ 100,000 after 10 years - plus the
expected price increases for teak wood.
